4th of July Arts and Crafts for Toddlers and Preschoolers

4th of July Arts and Crafts for Toddlers and Preschoolers

We have been busy this week enjoying different types of art for the 4th of July - Independence Day.
Independence Day is celebrated in America. It is a holiday celebrating the anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence.

Americans celebrate by gathering with their friends and family. Having BBQ's and parties. There are often fireworks and bonfires as part of their celebrations.
Although Little N is a Toddler that doesn't mean we cant touch upon things that are happening around the world.
We have been enjoying lots of arts and crafts and today I want to share with you 5 very simple but lots of fun activities that are perfect for Toddlers for Independence Day....

1. Painting with marbles

Using a container place a piece on paper in bottom, squirt in some paint and throw in some marbles. Tilt the container up and down and side to side to create some beautiful patterns.

2. Painting with Balloons

This is the second time we have used water balloons to create patterns using paint.  The first time was for a halloween activity. Water balloons are the perfect size for little hands. Once they get covered paint they get super slippy to hold which the little ones love!

3. Creating an American Flag Suncatcher

We have a post for this craft so if you would like to find out more you can click the link above. We have been having some beautiful sunny weather lately here in the UK and this suncatcher has looked really effective stuck up on our patio doors in our kitchen! I love how you can make these for literally anything too! We have made a Rainbow suncatcher and an Earth suncatcher for Earth Day.

4. Straw painting

I added a small amount of water to some paint to make it runnier. Little N tipped the paint into the tray and together we blew the paint around in the tray. It created a lovely effect and merged in points to create purple. I would like to give this activity a go again with her and use more colours to see what other colours we can make when they are blown into each other.

5. Printing with your hands and feet.

Why have I never done this with Little N before? She was squealing with excitement doing this! I used an Easel  roll of paper and covered a length of the patio. She wanted to add more colours enjoyed going up and down and submerging her feet into the squelchy paint. She also loved the warm soapy water afterwards to wash her feet off!
All of the usual fun things Toddlers enjoy doing theme it with red, white and blue and you have a collection of art for the 4th of July!
I have stuck them all to our patio doors and they look beautiful as the sun is shining on them all! I am very tempted to cut some of them up and laminate to use as bunting decorations!

So if you would like to do something with your Toddlers and Preschoolers for Independence Day but the time is ticking away here we have 5 activities that have virtually no prep time!

Have fun everyone and a very Happy Independence Day to all our American followers!!!

  2. It is a continuing process and art is becoming more of an everyday life feature. The subject of art has evolved itself with changing times. History stands strong in support of the point that every passing generation adds to the meaning bit of art academy.
