LEGO Sea Rescue Plane

LEGO Sea Rescue Plane

After our recent enjoyment building and playing with the Snow Resort Chalet that we got from Tesco I was really keen and excited to try another LEGO product. We decided to go for the Sea Rescue Plane 60164.

Lego is not far from hitting its 100 year anniversary. It's not a toy I have brought or played with since I was a child myself, but now my children are getting a bit older they have really been enjoying playing with the LEGO I played with as a child. Almost 30 years old the LEGO is still in perfect condition despite being played with lots.

After all the fun we had with the Snow Resort I have been taking a look at Tesco Direct and viewing their large range of LEGO Products - there really is so much choice!

LEGO Sea Rescue Plane

This particular set is suitable for the 5-12 age range. My daughter is 4 and a half and she was able to follow the instructions with little support from me, however she wouldn't have been able to do it alone as guidance was needed from time to time. Inside the box were two bags clearly labelled bag 1 and bag 2, the front of the plane, stickers and instruction booklet.

I loved all the detail on the two figures that were part of this set. You do only get two, so if you already have LEGO at your home/setting, you may want to add another figure at last. This became more evident when my daughter set about playing with it as she wanted a 'person' manning all three vehicles, as part of a big sea rescue, and not forgetting the person in danger needing to be saved.

Here are the two rescue vehicles that come together in bag number one. Very simple to build. I love how everything fits together so easily and how the blocks are perfectly sized for the figures to hold on to the sides/ handle bars. Not only is this a great feature for building up fine motor skills its another step to making it all that little bit more real, for imaginative play!

As we finish bag number one this is how far the set comes together. With 2 life jackets and a couple of spare pieces. Inside the cockpit is a place to sit the figures and a steering wheel for the crew to manoeuvre the plane. The set ski has handles for the coast guard to hold onto tightly in the choppy sea. The bars are perfect height and I love how the hands clip onto them!
The stickers work well and bring the product more realistic features.

The plane was completed during bag number two. The front of the plane removes to reveal a place for the figures to sit down and there is also a steering wheel to steer the plane.
The propellers also spin around which was a feature my 4 year old loved.

As expected another great LEGO product with lots of attention to detail. I also think with getting the 3 vehicles in this set its excellent value for money. Can't wait to get building another set very soon!
