Scrape Easter Egg Craft

Scrape Easter Egg Craft

Spring is officially here! Yipeee! Although we apparently have more snow on the way the weekend?
I'm here today to share with you a lovely technique - scrape painting.

With only a few days till Easter your settings are no doubt preparing for the Easter Bunny arrival and Easter Bonnet Parades. I'm sure you have had some lovely activities set up in your homes and classrooms. Today is a super simple craft that you will be able to set up within a minute and the outcome of this process is simply beautiful!

My personal favourite scrape art was done by one of my most favourite blogs ever - Hello Wonderful. They don't use cardboard for their scrape technique and in many ways I prefer their approach. It's great for younger children too and I love how it encourages gross motor movements. The bottles they use to pour the paints are super and if you don't have acrylic paints to use (as we have) - they share another type of paint that works just as great!

I also adore their Recycled Bottle Bubble Art.

Talking of Hello Wonderful I just have to share something pretty awesome with you! Agnes (and her lovely family) are the talented people behind Send a Unicorn. Know somebody who loves unicorn? Someone who your thinking of or somebody special? Why not send them a box of magic? You can send and order yours here but beware they do sell our super fast! -

First, download and print out the Easter Egg Template. The link to the FREE download is at the bottom of the page. Cut out your eggs and use the larger egg as a template on the coloured card.

This will create a beautiful back drop for your paintings. Cut out your eggs.

Cover your surfaces in case there are any paint spillages. Add blobs of your paints on the Easter Eggs and get your cardboard at the ready and get ready to start scraping away at the paint.

Use your heavy duty cardboard to move the paint around the eggs! Use different colour combinations and see what different patterns and shades you can create!

Allow the paint to dry completely before gluing the painted egg onto your coloured card. Use them as bunting for your Easter decorations or add them to card fronts and give them to your family and friends.
