Frozen Small World Shoe Box

We do love Small Worlds here at Learning and Exploring Through Play and after recently buying Little N some new shoes I had an empty shoe box which offered me the perfect opportunity to get creative!

Little N, like many children right now is Frozen MAD! My Mom and Dad recently brought her a 'My Busy Book'. It came complete with all the characters, lots of backdrops from the film along with a hard board picture book.
I decided to use these characters along with the shoe box to create a shoe box small world.
Little N did a great job of painting the box. She loves painting so jumped at the opportunity. I left the box to dry and when it was ready I added some snowflakes and cotton wool for the snow. I propped up all the characters, sprinkled down some litter and left it on the table for her to discover on her own.
She was over the moon with it!!

She was really intrigued by the feel of the cotton wool.
Small worlds are great for imaginative play! They give children the opportunity to act out and make up stories. They encourage creativity and bring to life the stories and characters they love.
Another added bonus to using shoe boxes to create your small world set ups is that they are transportable. Pop the lid on to contain the contents and you can take them anywhere with you!
We will be making more shoe box small worlds so be sure to keep checking back!
