Sensory Play with Porridge

Traditional fairy tales are so magical for children and Little N adores them all! Its been a few weeks now since we did some super duper messy play in the garden and a beautiful, sunny September day gave us the opportunity to have some sensory fun!
Today we got the Tuff Tray out and after reading the story Goldilocks and the Three Bears off Little N went outside to start making her very own porridge.

I had made up a saucepan of creamy porridge that was lovely and warm. There was a range of bowls and spoons for her to explore and create and containers with milk and water too.

I added some extra bowls that contained more porridge oats, lentils and pasta. This gave her the opportunity to mix and add her ingredients.

Of course the milk and water were a hit and in fact she kept asking for more every time it ran out! She sprinkled in the other ingredients and make some of her own porridge concoctions.

There was lots of filling, emptying and transferring going on and the stories she was coming up with and retelling were wonderful. She is so imaginative!

She finally got stuck in when she was finally drawn to the warm, creamy porridge. She submerged her hands and mixed her ingredients in with her hands. I really love watching them get really messy!!!
