Salt Dough Recipe

Salt Dough Recipe

Here we share our very simple Salt Dough recipe with you.
In 5 simple steps and 3 ingredients you have endless possibilities with what you can create.

We LOVE making keepsakes and have mad several now:

Heart Keepsakes are perfect for Valentines Days, Birthdays, Grandparents Day, Christmas, in fact who wouldn't love this any time of the year?

We created this one as part of the Red Ted Art Valentines blog hop.                                                                                                                         We teamed up with bloggers world wide and made a great compilation of Valentines crafts and activities that are perfect for the kiddies.                                                                                       You can see our Footprint Keepsake Ornament here.

We also made a 'handprint' version  as the above one was loved so much!

You can view our Handprint Keepsake ornament here.

The next big celebration was Easter so we made some egg shaped keepsakes:

I really loved these as the pastle colours looked so beautiful together!

This was our Egg Handprint plaque ornament.

We also made these heart thumbprint keepsakes. Great to hang up on the wall or your Easter Trees. - Great decorations for childminders, teachers who have a few children in their care!

You can add magnets to the back of them too and pop them on your fridge!

You can see more on our Thumb Print Egg Keepsakes here.

Next celebration we made Saltdough Keepsakes for was Halloween:

We combined both hand prints and foot prints with this one!

Halloween Pumpkin Keepsake.

Using cookie cutters we created smaller pumpkins and made some heart print thumb prints.

Thumb Print Magnets.

.........and our most recent keepsakes have been for Christmas:

These were such great fun to make, so colourful and look lovely hanging on the tree!!

I gift wrapped them up lovely and gave them to friends and family.

You can see details on how we made these and see photos of our gift wrapping by clicking below:

Hand Print Christmas Tree Cards - Keepsakes

Now the festive season is upon us you have no doubt started thinking about different festive crafts and activities you can enjoy with the children.

I am not ashamed to admit that my tree has already been up for a few weeks now. There are only so many years where the children are young and we love Christmas so much here that I love to be prepared ready to enjoy the lead up to Christmas with the children.

James was off work so I though why not? I enjoyed the spring clean while the children were at school. Got everything prepared so they could dress the tree on their return. It was really successful and enjoyable for all of us.

Salt Dough Sunflower Handprint Keepsake

Salt Dough Sunflower Handprint Keepsake

Sunflower Handprint Keepsake Craft using Salt Dough

We have recently planted our Sunflower seeds and Little N checks each day to see if there is any sign of them sprouting above the soil yet. It wont be long now and then we get to plant them out in the garden and our Sunflower competition begins - Who can grow the biggest Sunflower.

The sun has been out and we have been enjoying lots of time in the garden, but the good old British weather means we have gone from applying the factor 50 and getting to swimming pools out in the garden to needing our wellies and umbrellas!

Cross Suncatcher Craft

Cross Suncatcher Craft

Cross Suncatcher Craft - Easter Crafts for Kids

Embrace that beautiful Spring Sunshine with this colourful Cross Suncatcher Craft. Easter is lots of fun as we gather together for parties, are challenged by the Easter bunny to go on Egg hunts however it's also useful to touch upon why Easter is special.
Regardless of what religion you are part of, teaching children about either your own religion AND others is very useful. Not only does it give them an insight to beliefs but it also teaches them to respect faith.

This Cross Suncatcher Craft is particularly great to make around the Easter period and a talk to the children about the Resurrection of Jesus.

Hands on Learning for Valentines Day

Hands on Learning for Valentines Day

Hands on Learning for Valentines Day

We've been having the most delightful winter mornings here in Birmingham. Harsh frosts with blue, sunny skies. I have been out for some of the most wonderful walks right after the school run and it has really cleared my mind after all the Christmas chaos and the sickness bugs that hit the household over that time. A new year is here and one of the first events we can really look forward to sharing with the children after Christmas is Valentines Day.

In my experience of working with children over the last decade - once you share the delight of this tale with them they are hooked. Just, as adults become too. Today I am sharing with you such a lovely craft that the children would have lots of fun making! Hang them up on the trees in your setting/home or pop them in some clear cellophane bags and gift them.

St Davids Day Activity for Kids

St Davids Day Activity for Kids

St Davids Day Tuff Tray Activity

St Davids Day is celebrated annually on the 1st of March. People who live in Wales and who are of Welsh origin celebrate their Patron Saint - St David.
People celebrate by wearing traditional costume, parades and wearing daffodils and leeks.

The flag of St David is black with a yellow cross and will be flown more than usual on the day along with the Welsh Flag.
During a battle against the Saxons St David told his men to wear a leek so they were able to distinguish who the enemy was. They went on to win the so the leek has become a Welsh symbol.

New Years Gift of Time

New Years Gift of Time

New Years Eve Ideas for Kids - New Years Gift of Time

There is nothing better that you can give someone - than your time.

Life gets busy. Time with people we love more than anything can sometimes get pushed aside, as we attempt the never ending laundry piles, take on extra shifts at work and so on. I recently saw a post over on Facebook that really got me thinking. A lady had given her children the gift of time for Christmas. I was so taken back at the thought that had gone into this that I am making myself commit to doing a New Years version every single year for my children.
